Church Picnic

Our annual church picnic is held in July or August. Past picnics have been held at Eisenhower Park in Abilene, Camp Mary Dell in Brown’s Park south of Abilene, and White Memorial Camp near Council Grove. It is a morning of games, fellowship, and a worship service, followed by a basket dinner (potluck) or catered meal at noon.

Abilene Area Food Pantry

Hanging of the Greens

Hanging of the Greens ceremony is held during worship service on the first Sunday of Advent. Children, youth and adults take part in this service to prepare us for the Christmas season.

Christmas caroling is scheduled on a Sunday afternoon or evening in December. Our carolers visit and sing a variety of Christmas carols to members of the church who are living in nursing homes and retirement homes, or older members who are not able to attend church services regularly.

Christmas Eve Service

A Christmas Eve Service is held at New Basel every year. The service consists of the Children’s Christmas program, singing Christmas hymns, a Christmas meditation, and a candlelight service.
